★★★ It’s all about second chances in this sweet Virgin River romance. Hero Danson “Connor” and heroine Leslie are both divorced, both looking for a fresh start. Though in Connor’s case, he isn’t so much looking for one as it is actively forced upon him – he must go into hiding after witnessing a horrible crime. Hidden Summit’s very similar to the other titles in this series. We meet a lot of retired military men and women escaping abusive relationships around Jack Sheridan’s bar. In Leslie’s case, her ex is a narcissist and Connor’s ex is a sex addict – what a pair this jaded couple make! It’s a treat watching the two slowly let their guards down and begin to trust again – the moment they come together just feels right. Their coupling works in contrast to Connor’s sister Katie and the dentist. There’s affection there but they seem to be lacking the spark Connor’s shocked to find with Leslie. Love comes hard and fast and creates a bit of suspenseful drama as Connor prepares to testify. A surprise ending completes this heartwarming story.
